Last night (February 14th), residents and guest of The Mayflower Community (Grinnell, Iowa) celebrated Valentine’s Day with fine dining: cooked-to-order prime rib, twice-baked potato, salad, roll, and homemade chocolate lava cake. The dining followed a social hour that included wine and bubbly and lots of conversation. The setting—the beautiful cherry wood Buckley Dining Room—was framed by the snow-covered courtyard visible through floor-to-ceiling windows and doors.
Over 135 diners enjoyed Valentine’s Day as you can see in the photos below. In the last shot, resident Gerry Adams throws his hands in the air while exclaiming, “This is better than any ol’ cruise!” (Or, as resident Harley Henry has said, “Being at the Mayflower is like being on a cruise ship without a port of call.)
