Special luncheons were held in the Health Center and Beebe Assisted Living dining rooms to celebrate Valentine’s Day in The Mayflower Community (Grinnell, Iowa) on February 14th.
The menu included pizza, salad, and special cookies. At each event, a Valentine’s King and Queen were coronated. The Beebe Assisted Living King is Chao Huang and Queen is 102-year old Coleen McGriff. (In over a century, she has probably been crowned “Queen” more times than she can count!) The Health Center King is Bernie Ulm, who was accompanied at the luncheon by his lovely wife Laila. Queen Miriam Schultz was accompanied by family members. South Neighborhood King and Queen are Harry Bolton and Mary Long, who were accompanied by their spouses, Jo and Roger.
The vocal/piano duo of Ed Poush and Dot Anderson entertained in the Health Center. Ed is the retired Mayflower Associate Director/Administrator. Residents Sandy and Betty Moffett entertained in Beebe with vocals and guitars.
