Mayflower Announces a Return to Independent Living Activities

With the local COVID-19 positivity rate declining, Grinnell’s Mayflower Community has announced that a number of activities previously enjoyed by residents are being reinstated. Continued safe health measures are being requested to include, as appropriate, masking, safe-distancing, handwashing, and staying home with symptoms.

Resuming are:

  • Saturday afternoon full-length movies in the Kiesel Theatre
  • Tuesday morning Chapel services in the Kiesel
  • Monday Neighborhood Lunches for designated groups
  • Monthly second-Tuesday Forums featuring local speakers
  • Monthly last-Friday Wine and Cheese gatherings
  • Friday morning Koffee and Konversation coffees
  • Tuesday morning opening of the Mini-Gift Shop for card sales
  • Monday morning Bell Choir practice
  • Wednesday Lester the Bus rides to local grocery and box stores

In addition, other activities that were not suspended will continue. This includes Armchair Travels, lending libraries, regular and special food events in the Buckley Dining Room, exercise equipment in apartment buildings, various Zoom meetings, book discussion groups, board games, and Lester the Bus rides to Grinnell College basketball games.

Mayflower continues to practice “community.”
