Last night (October 25th), the Pink Neighbor musical duo performed for the weekly Lyceum Program. An activity of the Mayflower Residents Association, the standing committee is chaired by resident Sue Ahrens. The Lyceum is a free, weekly Mayflower program offering residents and friends a program of music or education. From the Latin, Lyceum was the name of the gymnasium near Athens where Aristotle taught. Merriam Webster defines the term as “an association providing public lectures, concerts, and entertainment.”
According to their website, Pink Neighbor “…is a multi-instrumentalist duo influenced by the American songbook, 60’s lounge music, film scores, and rock ‘n’ roll through the decades. They are based in Grinnell, Iowa 50112 and write, perform, and produce their original songs.” Katie In and Erik Jarvis captured the Mayflower audience with reminiscent and pop songs.
