A recent article in McKnights.com excerpted a poll of older Americans conducted by the University of Michigan in which a majority said that their physical activity decreased during the pandemic. As a result, one in four reported that their flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance had declined, even when using a cane, walker, or vehicle. In addition, the risk of falling—a precursor to falling—had significantly increased.
