On Saturday, November 9th, the Visual Truth Mime Troupe from Winfield, Kansas performed for Mayflower Community residents in the Carman Center. The faith-based group is composed of 12- to 17-year olds who perform mime drama to music in various venues around the Midwest. — Bob Mann, Sales & Marketing Director
On the first Sunday of November, the combined congregations of the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn (Iowa) and the First United Presbyterian Church of Malcom host a musical group in the Brooklyn church. The purpose according to Pastor Bernard Nti is, “to praise God for all God’s goodness and kindness to the church and community.”
The Mayflower Community (Grinnell IA) residents and their guests celebrated Oktoberfest, Amana-style on October 24th. The white-tablecloth dinner was served family style in the Buckley Dining Room after a short social time that featured wines and German beer. The dinner menu included appetizers (serving bowls on the tables!) of homemade applesauce, coleslaw, and rye bread.

Music Speaks therapy began at The Mayflower Community, Grinnell, Iowa in December 2018. The local music therapist, Kelly Robertson, visits our low-stimulus South neighborhood once a week to conduct a small group therapy session, which is monitored by Mayflower staff.
