Farnum Family Entertains Mayflower

On Thursday, July 31st the Farnum Family band treated over 70 Mayflower Community (Grinnell IA) residents and guests to an hour of bluegrass, gospel, folk, Irish, and Western music. On their way to the county fair in Albert Lee, Minnesota, the parents and four kids stopped to entertain because a family member lives in Mayflower’s Health Center.

Composed of parents Norm and Trish, daughters Hannah, 22 and Maggie, 15 and sons Benjamin, 24 and Matthew, 14, the family lives in Galena, Missouri, and is based out of the Missouri Ozarks. A family band that has been touring for many years, they have taken their blend of music, entertainment, and homespun family humor to states west of the Mississippi.

The Farnum Family performs for festivals, historic theaters, schools, churches, state and county fairs, and other family-oriented venues. They are regulars at Missouri’s Silver Dollar City. As a family band and individually, they have received both instrumental awards and vocal recognition.

At Mayflower, Norm strummed banjo, Tish played keyboard and penny whistle, Hannah fiddled, Benjamin was on guitar, Maggie plucked the upright bass, and Matthew joined in on mandolin. All shared in vocals.

As always, The Mayflower Community is pleased to host musical acts for the pleasure of residents and guests. The Farnum Family performance was outstanding.
