Blankets at Mayflower—‘Tis the Season

Recently, blankets were given to residents of The Mayflower Community’s Health Center and Beebe Assisted Living. Most were made by the “Quilt Ladies” at the Ripley United Church of Christ in Traer, Iowa. Others were made by local groups and individuals. Mayflower Conducts Weekly Chapel

Grinnell’s The Mayflower Community has re-instituted regular Chapel services. A function of the Mayflower Residents Association, Mayflower’s Spiritual Life Committee coordinates weekly non-denominational services in the Kiesel Theatre for independent living residents. In addition, Mayflower’s Community Life and Wellness staff arrange similar services for Health Center and Beebe Assisted Living residents in the Carman Center.

Making Hawaiian with a Special Treat at Mayflower

On Monday, January 3rd, residents of Mayflower’s Beebe Assisted Living had the opportunity to sample a popular Hawaiian treat. Musubi is a simple, hand-held snack food. It has its origins in World War II with spam musubi, a take-off of Japanese onigiri, a pickled or salty protein with rice wrapped in a black seaweed paper.

On Christmas Day, December 25, 2021, Grinnell’s Mayflower Community hosted a traditional dinner at noon.
