Mayflower Residents Association Meets

90 members of the Mayflower Residents Association, an active body composed of all residents of Grinnell’s Mayflower Community, met on July 15th in their periodic “Town Meeting.” The meeting was conducted by President Linda Myren and included presentations by numerous residents and Mayflower staff members.

The membership elected a new President-Elect, Gene Wubbels. Gene will take over President duties January 20, 2020.

The committees that reported on current activities and initiatives included Library, Nominating, Treasurer Chest, Lyceum, Log, Social, Mini-Gift Shop, Audio-Visual, and Bylaws. In addition, resident Kathy Szary, a State of Iowa SHIIP counselor, described some of the latest scams being perpetrated on senior citizens and how to protect against them. The 4th of July Committee, responsible for building the Mayflower ship float and other fun, was recognized and thanked.

The Mayflower Community has one of the most engaged and active resident associations of any senior living community in the state.
