The program that begin last June to offer music therapy services to Grinnell area residents had a staffing change effective yesterday, May 23rd. Kelly Robertson, Music Therapist—Board Certified (MT-BC), is leaving Grinnell to move with her husband to Seattle, where he has taken an employment position.

Through the efforts of the Grinnell Music Therapy Task Force led by J.R. Paulson, M.D. and under the auspices of the Grinnell Area Arts Council, Kelly has been providing therapy services to Grinnell-Newburg School District students, UPH-Grinnell Regional Medical Center patients, Grinnell Regional Hospice patients, and Mayflower Community residents. Kelly and her husband have been living in a Mayflower Community independent living apartment as part of her Grinnell accommodations.

Kelly’s services have been provided by the Music Speaks organization of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Replacement arrangements are still in process. During the interim, the Grinnell music therapist will be Alyson Krapfl, MT-BC of Cedar Rapids, effective May 30th. Her role will be to assess referred clients to determine therapy goals, provide therapy, and document outcomes.
