On Thursday evening, March 23rd, Mayflower Community residents and their guests were entertained to a range of musical pieces presented by the “Flute-iano” duo, Kris McKlveen and Glenda Duffus. Kris plays flute and lives in Prairie City. Glenda plays piano and lives in Newton. They were the evening’s “Lyceum” program that provides weekly entertainment on the Mayflower campus.
Playing together for three years, the two partnered for their “musical ministry” after each retired. Kris was an elementary and middle school band teacher. Glenda was an elementary music instructor and piano accompanist for students and college faculty.
They have been presenting “light classical” performances around Central Iowa. In addition, Kris and Glenda dabble in Broadway show tunes, pop music from the 1940s to 2000s, and a mix of older and contemporary sacred music.
A little piano and a little flute…enjoyable!
