Bob Mann / Executive Director / Email Bob
Bob is the Executive Director of Mayflower Homes, Inc. Prior to coming to the Mayflower Community in January, 2007, Mann served in the following capacities in Des Moines, Iowa and Boulder, Colorado: high school teacher and coach, commercial banker, Fortune 500 company division controller, director of human resources for a 15,000 employee company, executive director of a homeless shelter, and various capacities in retirement communities and church ministry. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls in Business with a Marketing Emphasis and an Accounting Minor. Mann has pursued Masters work at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and Drake University, Des Moines. He has completed the course work for Nursing Home Administrator licensing. The Iowa Conference of the United Church of Christ has licensed Mann as a minister in that denomination. Mann raised his two children as a single, custodial parent and has two granddaughters.
Ed Poush / Associate Director / Email Ed
Ed is the Associate Director/Administrator for the Mayflower Community. He has held this position since June of 1988. Holding a State of Iowa Nursing Home Administrator’s license, Ed is responsible for overseeing the Mayflower’s licensed/certified levels of care. These include the 60 bed Health Center (including 16 beds designated for Memory Support residents), 13 beds of Residential Care, and 10 beds of Assisted Living care. As the Associate Director of the Mayflower Community, Ed works in day-to-day management with specific duties in personnel administration and customer service. Prior to coming to the Mayflower, Ed worked for ten years as Personnel Director in a Muscatine, Iowa hospital. Ed has a BA in Psychology from Grace College, Winona Lake, Indiana. He and his wife have four children and seven grandchildren.
Jack Morrison / Director of Facilities Management / Email Jack
Jack has held this position since 1987, having begun work on the Mayflower Facilities Staff in 1984. Included in his duties are the following specialties: construction trades and supervision, home design and CAD drawing, project supervision, and materials procurement. Jack supervises 13 regular full-time Facilities staff members. Morrison previously worked as an assistant manager of a local furniture and floor-covering store where he specialized in floor covering sales and installation. In addition, he has worked as support staff in a local bank. A native of Grinnell, Jack is married and has three adult daughters and 11 grandchildren.
Scott Gruhn / Director of Food Services / Email Scott
Scott has held this position since July of 2000. Previously, Scott served as Food Service Director beginning in 1989. After a seven-year hiatus in which he owned and operated a restaurant and worked in the entertainment industry, Scott returned to his current expanded role. He oversees 35 full and part-time staff providing meals and snacks in four campus dining rooms, linen and personal laundry service for over 80 residents, and care and cleaning for the entire campus of five apartment, one assisted living, and one nursing buildings. In addition to daily operations, he and his staff provide catering services for Mayflower residents and events. Scott is a Culinary Arts program graduate of the Kirkwood Community College that included an internship at The Barn Restaurant in the Amana Colonies where he also worked full-time following graduation. Married, Scott is a Grinnell native.
Pam Vosburg, C.P.A. / Chief Financial Officer / Email Pam
Pam joined the staff of Mayflower in December of 2009 as Chief Financial Officer. She oversees the accounting and financial management for all Mayflower Community organizations. Prior to joining Mayflower, Pam practiced in public accounting, as sole practitioner and most recently as partner in Plate, Baker & Co., P.C. She has also held positions at Grinnell Newburg Schools as high school business teacher, Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company as systems analyst, and Grinnell College in student financial aid, as well as serving as Treasurer and controller of a family owned retail building Materials Corporation. She has a BS degree in Business Education from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri and has completed additional study at Iowa State University, Ames, IA. She obtained her CPA certificate to practice in Iowa in 1981. Pam is married and has four children and four grandchildren.
Melissa (Missi) Salmon, R.N./B.S.N./M.S.N., / Director of Nursing / Email Missi
Missi joined the Mayflower staff in 2014. A native Texan, she has a B.A. in Chemistry from Texas Christian University and has enjoyed life as an Iowan since 1996. Missi began her nursing studies at Marshalltown Community College. She has worked in various long-term care facilities in the Grinnell area as an LPN (2006) and RN (2008). In 2013, she completed her BSN and MSN degrees with a focus on nursing education through the Chamberlain College of Nursing. Missi, a Phi Theta Kappa, applies her teaching skills at IowaValley Community College as an adjunct instructor to promote the education and profession of nursing. Missi has five children, two grandchildren, two cats, two fish, and lives in Grinnell.
Jacki Braack, R.N. / Assistant Director of Nursing / Email Jacki
Jacki has been employed as a nurse at Mayflower since November of 2002. Her positions have included charge nurse, supervisor of restorative services, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Interim Director of Nursing. Jacki was licensed as a Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) in 1998 and as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in 2000. Before coming to the Mayflower, she worked in other long-term care facilities for a total of four years, in the positions of charge nurse, and interim director of nursing. Jacki and two children live in Grinnell.
Jodi Cheney, RN/BSN / South Village Coordinator / Email Jodi
Jodi joined the Mayflower staff in 2014. She was raised in Deep River, IA and is a graduate of Mount Mercy College, Cedar Rapids, IA with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She worked in long-term care from 2004 to 2010 as a nurses aide. After nursing school she relocated to Tennessee to work in Surgery and Neonatal Intensive Care. Jodi worked as a nurse in long-term care after returning to Iowa in 2012, then went on to work in Mercy’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit from 2013 to 2014 in Des Moines. As the result of her work with seniors who have dementia, Jodi made the decision to come to the Mayflower Community to lead our memory support care work.
Rhonda Hudson, LBSW/ Social Worker/ Email Rhonda
Rhonda assists with the physical, psychosocial and economic issues for residents residing in the Health Center, South Village and Beebe. She is a resource person for those needing community services and works with other Mayflower staff to assist residents and their families to clarify goals of care. Prior to joining the Mayflower staff in October, 2001, Rhonda worked 20 years in the human services area: as a Vista (Volunteers in Service to America)/educator in her native state of West Virginia and then with the Iowa Department of Human Services, working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral needs as well as adults with disabilities. Rhonda is a graduate of the University of Iowa. Throughout her career as a licensed social worker she has been an advocate for special needs children and older adults with their unique care needs. Rhonda and her husband enjoy traveling, spending time with their daughter and her family and spoiling their four rescue dogs.
Elizabeth Bos / Beebe/Home Services Coordinator / Email Elizabeth
Elizabeth is the Beebe (assisted living) and home services coordinator. She has been employed at Mayflower since 2008. A majority of her employment has been spent working in Beebe, with some time spent in the Health Center as well. Elizabeth received her LPN license in 2011 from Des Moines Area Community College on the Newton campus. She received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing (RN) from Des Moines Area Community College in December of 2012. Elizabeth is a Grinnell native and currently lives in Newton.
Christy Kaisand / Human Resources Coordinator / Email Christy
Christy is the Human Resources Coordinator for the Mayflower Community since August of 2013. As Human Resources Coordinator, Christy is responsible for managing employee recruitment, orientation and training, compliance, benefit administration, maintaining personnel records, nursing payroll and Workers’ Compensation Programs. Christy received her Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the University of Iowa. Prior to coming to Mayflower in August, Christy was in business management. Christy is a Montezuma native and currently lives in Grinnell with her husband. Christy has 4 children and 3 grandsons and is expecting a new grandchild in the spring of 2014.
