Who qualifies for residency at Mayflower?

Persons who are at least 55 years of age. Financial and health conditions are considered.

How do I go about applying for residency?

Examine ths website information to consider if this is the senior adult community in which you wish to live. Then request a formal application form, fill in the data and submit with your application fee of $500. The Board of Trustees considers and approves applications.

How do I get my name on the waiting list and how long is it?

Follow the same procedure outlined above, stating your desire for future occupancy. There are dozens of names on the waiting list, more for some apartment types than others, and many not seeking an imminent move. There is no sure way to predict when your name will come to the top of the list. We do however, urge you to make a timely, prudent decision so you can enjoy Mayflower's benefits and services when you want or need them.

How much does it cost to become a Mayflower resident?

There are two types of fees involved. One is the "Entrance Fee" paid at the time of occupancy. Then there is a monthly maintenance charge which includes water, electricity, heat, air conditioning, waste disposal, laundry room, cable TV,wireless Internet, ceiling fans, lawn and common area maintenance, and priority access to the Health Center and Assisted Living. Generally, it costs significantly less to live at Mayflower than to keep your own house. Best of all, you have none of the worries and expense of home ownership.

What happens if I cannot live independently in my own apartment?

Beebe Hall siilled care and Health Center memory support are among the most important advantages of Mayflower living in the continuum of care. . Physical facilities and familiar staff are right here on campus to provide emergency attention, personal assistance and intermediate nursing care for as long as needed. You, your family and doctor, along with our staff, will help choose the best program for you.

Who owns Mayflower?

Mayflower Homes, Inc. is an Iowa nonprofit corporation (Federal IRS (a 501(c)(3) organization) related to the Iowa Conference, United Church of Christ.. The Board of Trustees, elected for three- year terms, sets policy and approves procedures for the community. The Trustees are volunteers who serve without compensation.

May I personalize my apartment?

You certainly may. Mayflower provide a clean, upgraded, fully equipped vacant space. Then you may bring your own treasured possessions with you when you become a resident and decorate your home to your own personal taste.
